CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP: ATTRACTING FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT (FDI) IN NIGERIA’S SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES

Rationale and Expected Outcome from the Training

The proposed training program will focus on strategies, best practices, and practical tools that enhance the inflow of positive FDI that, contribute to inclusive economic growth.

The two-day workshop will seek to achieve the following objectives:

• Educate participants on FDI trends, and investor preferences for new or increasing FDI
• Provide insights into sector-specific incentives, regulations, and policies that encourage FDI inflow.
• Equip participants with negotiation and communication skills to engage effectively with potential foreign investors.
• Enhance the understanding of investment promotion agencies’ roles in attracting FDI.
• Build a network of FDI experts, practitioners, and policymakers to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Training Strategy and Approach:
The training program will adopt a participatory and interactive methodology to ensure effective knowledge transfer and skill acquisition. It will consist of a combination of in-person and virtual sessions to accommodate diverse participants from various locations. It will consist of a series of Lectures and presentations, group discussions, interactive simulations, workshops, seminars, and webinars conducted over a specified period. The program will be designed to accommodate participants from diverse backgrounds, including government officials, business leaders, investment promotion agencies, and academia.
